I like plans because they make me feel secure. I’ve put together many plans and hit ground running with them. The problem with that was, I didn’t always speak with God first. If I did, I’d swear I didn’t hear him or that He was taking too long to answer. So off I went, doing my own thing as if to say God didn’t see how urgent my needs were, or that He needed some help. You know what sucks? Having a good heart and then suffering for it. I could make all kinds of positive changes in an effort to better myself and live right for God, and someone will still find something negative to say. I could follow God’s instruction for my life and someone, or something, will come against it. For example, the sheer disappointment on people’s faces when I decline doing something that is no longer a part of my lifestyle. Yep, it happens.

There is a shift going on. Have y’all sensed it? Witnessed its effects? Do you know what’s going on? Let me tell you, just in case. People are getting tired of trying to “live a Christian life”. It’s not that they don’t have a heart for God, they’re just fed up with the church adding their own rules and requirements. They’re tired of the guilt and condemnation that comes after falling short of man-made standards (cause it sure ain’t God’s).
It’s a common saying, “Remember where you came from”. I heard it twice this week, but in a negative context which led me here. Don’t let someone tell you to remember where you come from in order to drag you back to that old place. Continue reading
