You Have to Watch This!

Thank you Cecilia, creator of Saved For His Grace blog, for sharing this video with me. It was right on time with my previous post, just as you said it would be. Apostle Tomi Arayomi gave an igniting word here. I’m still taking it in.

Watch it y’all.

The Enemy’s Strategies

This post is inspired by two of John Eldredge’s books, “Wild at Heart” and “Walking with God”.

Satan has a lot of people believing that he isn’t there. As if “it’s not that deep” and spiritual warfare isn’t real. Some people know he is real, but don’t always recognize when they are under attack. Others may live their lives in such a way that they aren’t really a threat to him, so he leaves them comfortable in their bondage. However, Satan, our enemy, is real. He is actively working to destroy God’s children and His image within them. Continue reading

Tear It Down!

The sermon from last Sunday was right on time with what I wrote about in my previous post [Sn: I love it when that happens]. Quick summary, my pastor used Joshua 24:14-15 to let us know that there are parts of our culture that we have to let go of.

So fear the Lord and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord alone.15But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” – Joshua 24: 14-15 (NLT)

That resonated with me because it affirmed that I do not have to feel bad for believing in God and Jesus. I chose not to follow other spiritual practices, such as those practiced by my ancestors. I chose to follow Christ and have relationship with him.

Pastor tied this in with his message about legacies. He said something that really struck me. He said “Some legacies are not for us to follow, but for us to tear down.” How powerful is that statement! Sometimes we believe we have to carry on certain beliefs, practices, attitudes, and behaviors. Especially if it’s for the culture. That’s not true! The same scripture applies. Let it go! Some one has to be the one to say no, this ends here. This isn’t of God and it ends here. Tear that legacy down.
